Want a challenge? Want something to help you get into great shape? Want to do something good? "I Run to Stop MS" is for you. "I Run to Stop MS" against MS is a way to raise money for MS programs and research by participating in a marathon or a triathlon.
Training for any endurance event, whether it s a marathon (26.2 miles…wow!) or a triathlon, is a significant challenge and a tremendous endeavor. When you tell people that you are doing this to raise money for the fight against MS they will be very willing to show their support.
Three Steps:
Choose a marathon or a triathlon to compete in. Here is a list of suggested marathons: click here, or you can select your own marathon or triathlon. Many profit marathons have an option to run on behalf of a charity and will donate part of your registration fees and provide you with an opportunity to raise additional funds. If you need have any questions please contact us.
Raise $1,000 That is the easy part. We will provide numerous fundraising tips, sample letters, and a National Multiple Sclerosis Society Fund-Raising Staff “Coach” to work with you all the way. When people find out what you are doing, the funds will start to roll in. The average is usually $3-4,000.
Train to run..or swim, bike and run. This part is up to you - but please prepare yourself adequately for the event!
You will receive an MS Society singlet to wear with pride when you participate in your event. Be sure to let us know your size when you register.
How do I find out more?
Please contact a Special Events staff member at 310-479-4456 or mailto:msevents@cal.nmss.org. We will be happy to help you find a marathon to participate in, or do any of the ground work to get the National Multiple Sclerosis Society registered as a charity for your chosen marathon. We’re with you every step of the way.
